April 19, 2017
Jessica Moore, associate director of financial planning and budgeting at the Carnegie Institution for Science, led a postdoc workshop titled "Congratulations! You won a grant proposal...now what?" on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in the Abelson Collaboration Center as part of DTM's Postdoctoral Development Workshop Series.
Moore's first postdoc workshop, titled "Creating a Successful Cost Proposal," covered different types of cost proposals, the proposal submission process, and how to prepare a budget. She also examined the new Uniform Guidance from the U.S. government, critical areas to review when looking at any request for a proposal, and best practices for developing an accurate budget. In the second installment of this workshop series, Moore explained the lofty responsibility of managing a grant budget once it is received. Specifically, she discussed in more detail guidelines for understanding the government's Uniform Guidance system, as well as how to correctly read and implement your award.
