Broad Branch Road Parties Under Partially Eclipsed Sun
Staff scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and other technical and administrative staff from Carnegie's Department of Terrestrial Magnetism and the Geophysical Laboratory gathered on August 21, 2017 for a solar eclipse watching party at the Greenewalt Patio of the Broad Branch Road Campus in Washington, D.C.
The party included snacks, solar viewing protection, and a NASA live webcast of the total solar eclipse. In Washington, D.C., the partial solar eclipse began at 1:17 p.m., reaching a maximum obscuration of 81% at 2:42 p.m. and concluding at 4:01 p.m.
