Earth and Planets Lab at Goldschmidt 2020

Goldschmidt 2020
Monday, June 22, 2020

This week, Earth and Planets Laboratory (EPL) scientists will be presenting their science at the 30th annual Goldschmidt conference, the world’s foremost geochemistry meeting.

Organized by the Geochemical Society and the European Association of Geochemistry, this conference offers an opportunity for researchers to stay up-to-date, share their work, and collaborate with colleagues from around the world. This year, thanks to COVID-19, the entire conference will be held online.

At this year’s conference, EPL Director Richard Carlson will be formally presented with the prestigious V.M. Goldschmidt Award, the Geochemical Society’s highest honor. Carlson is being recognized for his fundamental contributions to establishing the age of the lunar crust, determining the difference in Nd isotopic abundance between chondrites and Earth, and the unraveling of Earth’s early timeline.

The presentation will take place on Tuesday, June 23 at 5:00 PM. Along with the award, Carlson will present, “The Impact of Early Earth Differentiation on the Modern World.”

Including Carlson’s award presentation, there will be 11 talks and workshops led by EPL scientists over the course of the week. Find the full Earth and Planets Laboratory presentation schedule below. If you’re attending the conference yourself, we encourage you to add these presentations to your conference agenda.

Only registered attendees will be able to view the presentations. Presentations are listed in order of time and date.
