Overview

Tracy is interested in the behavior of materials in extreme environments. Her research interests span mineral physics and materials science. Currently, she is particularly excited about using time‐resolved techniques to study crystallographic transformations during dynamic compression.

Tracy uses dynamic compression techniques coupled with high-flux x-ray sources to probe in situ the structural deformation and phase transitions in materials at conditions relevant for impacts and the interiors of terrestrial and exoplanets, in addition to nuclear resonant scattering and synchrotron x-ray diffraction to probe the local dynamics of materials to understand novel behavior at the electronic level.
